Shida's Hair Story

2007  -2010

Hello everyone, My names Rashida
but most people call me Shida :)

For as long as I can remember I ALWAYS had long hair. That was until the age of 10, when I got my first relaxer. Literally half my waist long hair broke out due to lack of care, but as a child I thought nothing of it and my hair grew back (healthy) after 3 years, just in time for high school. still I did not care for my hair but in my Senior year (left, 2007) my hair was touching my bra strap.

I got a very stressful job the next year and always flat ironed my hair so it would look it's best everyday but I tied it up in tight pony tails all the time. by early 2009 I had patchy hair and a Mohawk (not on purpose) in middle of long strands. I was FREAKED OUT!!! I was scared to get it cut, so i wigged up. I wore wigs and half wigs while use a coconut/olive oil mixture to get my hair to grow out. It worked but I knew I needed to get it cut and styled, so I did. My friend Stacey (hair stylist) fixed my mess with a A-line cut. My hair was 2-inches in the back and it took getting use to,  it was the eye opener I needed. I swore off relaxers and learned to better control my stress and anxiety. My hair is now shoulder length and healthier than ever. My only goal is to keep it healthy and growing, who knows where it will go :)

  1. Just wanted to pop by and check out your blog. I am your newest follower. I love everything that centers around hair care. I went all natural earlier this year and I am loving the growth I have seen since I stopped using heat and and chemicals on my hair. Please stop by and check out my hair story.
